Software Engineer Java
To strengthen our development team, we are looking for someone in the field of software engineering with a specialism in Java backend development. In this role, you will work on the further development of our Java-based SaaS solution and implement robust, maintainable features for our platform.
The focus is on server-side Java development, API design, the integration of external services and the ongoing development of a complex software solution in close collaboration with QA, DevOps and product managers.
Your tasks:
- Development, enhancement and maintenance of software features for our Java-based SaaS platform
- Implementing interesting and varied software features as part of a team
- Development of server applications and APIs for integrating web interfaces and mobile applications
- Integration of external services via interfaces, for example in the areas of payment, routing or booking
- Contributing to technical concepts and the further development of a software solution designed for long-term operation
- Analysis of technical requirements, evaluation of implementation options and quality assurance during the development process
- Implementation, maintenance and further development of system and regression tests to ensure software quality
- Close collaboration with QA, DevOps, product managers and other developers
- Contributing to the further development of our development processes, including the effective use of AI tools
Your profile:
- Solid IT knowledge, for example gained through HTL and university / university of applied sciences
- Several years’ practical experience in modern Java development and modern development environments such as IntelliJ
- A sound technical understanding of APIs, data flows, services and interdependencies between systems
- Experience in the design and implementation of web services, as well as in working with relational databases and JPA implementations
- An independent, meticulous and structured approach to work, coupled with high standards of quality, maintainability and accuracy
- Ability to work in a team, willingness to develop, sense of responsibility and reliability.
It’s a plus if you have:
- Knowledge of Java technologies and common frameworks such as Spring, JPA or Hibernate
- Familiarity with build tools such as Gradle or Maven, as well as CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, GitLab CI or similar tools
- Practical experience with Docker, Azure or cloud-based SaaS architectures
- Expertise in test automation, for example using JUnit, Mockito, TestContainers, RestAssured or Spring Integration Tests
- Practical experience with AI tools to support software development processes
- Experience in analysing system behaviour and diagnosing faults using monitoring and logging tools
- Experience in working with spatial data formats and geodata, such as GeoJSON
- Living in Vienna or the surrounding area would be an advantage

Place of work: 1070 Vienna (hybrid working within Austria possible)
Languages: Very good written and spoken German and English
Hours: 32–38.5 per week; permanent position
Start: Immediately / by agreement
Salary: (Benchmark)
Grade ST1, standard level, in accordance with the ITKV 2026: EUR 3,954.— gross per month for 38.5 hours. The actual grade and salary will depend on qualifications and professional experience.
